Today was a good day! Rachel of Onana Knits and ourselves at Momomints headed out Saturday to meet at 7:30am. All of us don’t even wake up this early for work, but today was a big day! We were all set out on our adventure to Got Craft?‘s Spring 2014 Edition craft fair in the lovely city of Vancouver.
Now you may be wondering why were were out so early! Well, Got Craft? is one of the best craft markets in Vancouver and is well known for their very coveted “FREE Swag Bag”. The bag features a mystery mix of goodies from different vendors participating in the craft fair and is a FREE gift to the first 50 attendees at the market! We decided that arriving at 8am, two hours prior to the opening of the market at 10am, would be sufficient and we got super lucky! There were about 22 people lined up in front of us and about 5 minutes after arrival, everyone was handed tickets with numbers to claim their free Got Craft? swag bag. After getting our number, we were welcome to leave to go to a nearby coffee shop to kill the wait time. Sitting at a coffee shop, chatting with fellow friends and crocheting while we waited, went by quicker than we could have expected.
At about 15 minutes to 10am, we returned, got our swag bag and went right in! Admission to this lovely craft market is only $3 and the area is very easy to get to and has plenty of parking!
Now, $3 is nothing when you get to experience so much wonderful handmade goodness from local vendors. Marissa and I were spoiled with the love of so many mint coloured goods everywhere we went! One of our favourites was the lovely jewelry designed by Reminded Designs which featured lots of love for peach and mint!
We have so much appreciation for great designs and when we came across Quirky Paper Co‘s booth at Got Craft? we were Oooing and Awing more than you could count! So many clever postcards and greeting cards that really struck a cord with us! Definitely check out her shop!
Did we mention that our eyes were being spoiled with so many lovely mixes of colours!?! Ahh!! The colours!!!
Now we have to admit, one of our main reasons of wanting to visit Got Craft? was to visit and support our friends of Craft’ed Van!
If you don’t know Craft’ed Van, then let us quickly explain: they make the CUTEST bookmarks and magnets EVER!
These girls are super amazing and worked very hard for this craft fair. It definitely showed because everything they had displayed looked amazing!
Their bookmarks feature many loved characters from Disney films, tv shows and other random cute stuff like fruits and veggies, cameras and craft supplies!
Our favourites feature, of course, the craft supplies, the Pixar Up characters and illustrations as well as characters from Adventure Time! We know they will do great at this market and hope that others will get the opportunity to see their hard work up close =).
We had also planned to take more photos of all vendors that featured mint coloured products, but because we were so overwhelmed with all the great products being sold, we totally got distracted. So… here, we present you with this really darling baby dress by Carmen West Creative.
On to the swag bag! Look at this explosion of handmade goods! Our favourites include natural soap bars, handmade caramels, wooden pins, various earrings and rings, felting kits, mystery plant seeds, greeting cards, cookies, and so much more! We really appreciate the thought that vendors put into these items. And every bag is different! So it’s really interesting to see what others have got!
Of course the canvas bag itself is also a treat and definitely perfect for us to accessorize with our little Mint Mint Momobunny.
Marissa and I both had shopping “budgets” to stick to but were both able to pick up many items! Above is just what I hauled from Got Craft? on Saturday.
Both of us ended up purchasing this set from Craft’ed Van in support of their friends Erica and Diana. We couldn’t think of a more perfect set to represent us!
And speaking of perfect. One of Sami’s favourite purchases were these two mint and turquoise rose wire wrap rings from Reminded Designs!
Got Craft? Spring Edition is open again tomorrow Sunday, May 11th from 10am-5pm. We recommend going early and grabbing your own swag bag! It’s worth it!
