We are long past overdue for a blog post update! We have been busy bees sketching, brainstorming and working on ideas for the upcoming Holiday season which we can’t wait to share with you. Just the other day I was asking myself where did the time go? It’s already the start of a new school year and leaves are already starting to change meaning the end of Summer is fast approaching and Autumn is just around the corner. We had a good Summer and hope you did too! (Don’t worry there is still some time left to finish crossing off those last minute summertime things to do before the Fall really sets in). One of the best things about the summertime is the abundance of weddings happening around town. This year momomints was lucky enough to be a part of someone’s special day. I got a request for a custom momobunny wedding couple and was very excited to start working on this order. Custom orders are one of my favourite things to do. First things first was to do some sketches of the design and how I wanted the momobunny to come together. After sketches were finalized it was off to crochet the bunnies. Here is a look at the momobunny bride and groom:

And of course we can’t forget about the packaging. If you follow our Instagram feed (@momomintsshop) you would’ve seen our little teaser.

It was a pleasure making this custom order right from the beginning design stage straight to the final product. I loved how adding the tulle veil and satin bow tie tied everything together. It’s those little details that makes it so special.
Congrats again to the happy couple!
Happy New Year everyone! Can you believe it’s already 2 weeks into the new year? We have some exciting things lined up for 2013. First up, a new product release! Meet Cotton the amigurumi Bunny. This concept first came to light when M was sketching ideas for Valentine’s Day. M is really fond of crocheting bunnies cause they turn out so cute. So a couple of bunny sketches later and Cotton was born.
Sketch of Cotton the Bunny
Like all our products, a sketch is always done first before working on crocheting the design. As you can see, there were some minor adjustments made to the final product. Sometimes concepts looks better on paper than in real life, but in this case… Cotton turned out cuter than we could have possibly imagined.
The pattern for the bunny is an original pattern and overall concept design created by M. The heart that Cotton is holding is a free pattern created and provided by Maggie Weldon (http://www.maggiescrochet.com/small-heart-free-pattern-p-1918.html). She has a library full of dainty heart crochet patterns and the best thing is that a lot are free. Many of her patterns have YouTube videos too which is very helpful. This crochet heart really stood apart from many other heart patterns available on the world wide web because of the prominent border surrounding the heart. It complements the bunny really nicely. We are so thankful for such a supportive arts & craft community.
Here’s the completed version of Cotton the Bunny with a petite red bow and hugging a red heart. Perfect as a lovely gift for someone special in your life or treat yourself! We hope you enjoy our latest product. Cotton is now available for purchase in our store.

It has been a busy week for momomints. We’ve been planning a launch for Dec 1st to allow for Christmas orders, so it’s madness! Okay… not really madness, as we try to stay well organized! *game on*
The website is ready to go, the products are ready to go, now we’re focused on marketing our products! So many craft fairs are on right now (really wish we could be a part of it this year), and it’s been quite inspiring to see how other crafters set up their booths and package their products.
We really can’t wait to get the ball rolling on this one. Business cards, sticker labels, buttons! Sooo many ideas! So again, it’s team work time, and M got the sketches ready for me to “digitize”.
Packaging Design for momomints
I’m so thankful for M and her sketchbook, they really make my job a lot easier! As you can see, we really wanted to carry the theme of the website across to our products to help establish our identity as momomints. What do you guys think?
M is now on her way hunting for a print shop for us. I’m super excited to see how it turns out.
All from a sketch – momomints
momomints.com – it started with this. MONTHS ago (sorry, it takes awhile heh) S had asked M to sketch up a concept for the website, and this is what M came up with. With S being far far away on the other side of the world (Australia – to be exact), the only way they could brainstorm was through the interwebs with the help of Google’s gmail. But they made it work =).
At the time – they had no name yet, no brand yet… but they just knew: they needed a website. S loves to design websites, so it wasn’t at all a problem… except, S was also trying to settle into a new life overseas. Things fell into place when S found her first job in Sydney. And luckily it worked to the advantage for momomints. S found a job for an online retailer as a web developer and producer. This allowed her to learn about the world of eCommerce websites. Working full time, it still remained difficult to keep up a side project, but S stayed motivated.
As the website was being designed, M worked away at making new products for them and S plugged away brainstorming names for their website till eventually momomints came about.
“This is something we have been working on behind the scenes for sometime now. This is something we always knew we wanted to do individually. But when we met each other, our personalities, our interests, our future goals as craft-nistas just opened our eyes to see that everything in life is better share and experienced with a friend. Whether it’s the uptimes or even the downtimes, we’re happy to have this opportunity to work together to create something really special.”
momomints and momomints.com is finally here. Something our friends have always told us to pursue, something we knew that we’d naturally do eventually… we hope you’ll support us!
Have a peachy day!
